WHO Anggap Gelombang Baru Covid Dari Berlangsung EURO 2020

Turnamen Euro 2020 mendapat sorotan dari Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia WHO. Kerumunan fans di stadion maupun di bar saat menonton pertandingan terjadi saat pandemi belum sepenuhnya reda di Eropa.

Menteri dalam negeri Jerman sebelumnya menyebut UEFA tidak bertanggung jawab dengan mengizinkan kerumunan besar dalam turnamen tersebut. Kini sorotan juga datang dari WHO, yang menyebut Euro 2020 telah memicu peningkatan kasus baru hingga 10 persen.

Penurunan kasus baru COVID-19 di Eropa selama 10 pekan belakangan ini disebut telah berakhir. Gelombang baru COVID-19 tidak terhindarkan gara-gara turnamen sepakbola.

“Kita perlu melihat jauh di luar stadion,” kata staf kedaruratan senior WHO Catherine Smallwood, dikutip dari Reuters, Jumat (2/7/2021).

“Kita harus melihat bagaimana orang menuju ke sana, apakah bergerombol ramai-ramai naik bus? Dan saat mereka meninggalkan stadion, apakah mereka berkerumun di bar dan pub untuk nonton pertandingan?” lanjutnya.

Smallwood menilai, turnamen tersebut memicu penularan COVID-19. Terlebih, tiap negara punya aturan yang berbeda-beda dalam membatasi penonton. Ada yang membatasi hanya 25-45 persen kapasitas venue, tapi ada juga yang mengizinkan hingga 60 ribu penonton seperti di Budapest.

“Keputusan final terkait jumlah suporter yang menonton pertandingan dan persyaratan masuk ke negara atau stadion manapin menjadi tanggun jawab otoritas lokal yang kompeten, dan UEFA mengikuti dengan ketat,” kata UEFA dalam sebuah pernyataan.

Menteri dalam negeri Jerman Horst Seehofer menuding UEFA tidak bertanggung jawab. Ia juga mengkhawatirkan gelaran semifinal dan final yang akan digelar di London bakal menularkan COVID-19.

“Saya tidak bisa menjelaskan kenapa UEFA jadi tidak masuk akal. Saya mengira ini karena komersialisme,” tudingnya.
